What is video counseling? Video counseling enables you to participate in sessions over the Internet using a webcam.

Are my sessions confidential? Yes. I use a  confidential HIPPA-compliant program.

Do I have to install a program on my computer to do a video session with you? No.

Do you have specialized training in telehealth? Yes. I am an Advanced Certified Telebehavioral Health Practitioner through the Telebehavioral Health Institute. You can verify my training at the following link: https://telehealth.org/certified/

Why do people choose video counseling over in-office sessions?

  1. It's convenient.  Online therapy lets patients save time and forego the travel time to get to their session.
  2. It's comfortable.  You can connect with your counselor from the comfort of your own home, work, or any other place you have a quiet space and a good internet connection.
  3. It's tested and effective (and has been around longer than you think). Distance therapy practices aren't new. In fact, online mental health services have been around for a long time. There are decades of research on online services that have shown that distance counseling services can benefit the client and that clients often prefer them to traditional in-person sessions.
  4. It's easier for some people to talk about difficult things. For some people being in the comfort of their own home, office, or backyard makes it easier for them to talk about difficult issues.

Will my insurance or Employee Assistance Program cover the sessions? Most insurance plans and EAP's now cover online mental health services. To check if your insurance plan covers online sessions check your policy or call the 800 number on the back of your insurance card.
